Frequently asked

questions

How do I convert a JPG file to a PDF document?

You can quickly convert a JPG to PDF online with our easy to use PDF converter.

Upload your JPG image to Colorcinch and navigate to the Save menu. Next, select the PDF tab and adjust the slider to choose your desired output resolution and convert to PDF.

Keep in mind that choosing a higher number (closer to 100) means a higher resolution file and therefore bigger file size.

Finally, give the PDF a name and click Save.

Will the converted PDF have the same image quality as the original JPG?

Yes, the image quality is retained when you convert a JPG file to a PDF document.

What is DPI?

DPI stands for Dots Per Inch and denotes the output resolution of the printer. It is the literal number of dots contained within one inch of an image when printed.

What DPI should I choose for the PDF export file?

The DPI value you choose depends on the type of print quality you want. Generally speaking, if file size is not a concern, setting a higher DPI value will result in better quality prints.

If the final print is a handheld item (e.g. a photo album, brochure, flyer, etc.), then aim for a DPI of 300 or higher. For prints viewed from a great distance (e.g. a bill board) 72 DPI is standard.

For everything else in between (e.g. a poster or banner) aim for a range between 150 and 200 DPI.

What is the benefit of saving a JPG as a PDF?

JPG files use lossy compression. The quality of a JPG file can be easily altered during compression, resulting in an unwanted loss in quality. Saving a JPG as a PDF ensures that the quality remains intact.

Are PDF files larger than JPG files?

PDF files can retain much more information and details compared to JPG files that use a lossy format. PDF files thus tend to be larger than JPGs.

Can I convert my images to PDF and share them on social media?

Social media platforms don’t support displaying images in PDF format. If you wish to share photos with maximum retained quality, convert your JPGs to PNGs instead (using the same Colorcinch image converter).

Are these any other image formats I can use?

You can convert various image files if you’d like. In addition to a JPG to PDF converter, you can change almost any image to PDF (not just JPG images). Our PDF converter uses a simple drag and drop mechanism.
